I guess you could say that this type of ride is why I started this blog. It’s a great group of people that all like to ride bikes and drink beer (responsibly of course). Once upon a time, I raced bikes, and that’s all I thought about, all the time. I was either racing or making a way to be faster in my next race. And then I discovered beer.
I would say the Benelux Cafe ride is social+, and yes, I just made that up. What I mean is that there’s something for just about everyone of every experience level. It’s kept to a 10-12 mile route, and there are plenty of people there to go at the same pace as you. If you want to put the pedal to the metal, you can stay up front and ride at 18+ pace. It’s also a no-drop and the back of the group usually averages 10-12 mph. When everyone gets back, there are $2 New Belgium brews waiting and a little impromptu pick-up game of Bike Polo behind the Cafe.
It’s a must if you’re in the Raleigh, NC area on a Tuesday night. They pull out at 6:30 p.m.
